Attention Sewage Rate Payers:
New Water Termination Posting Fee

Effective July 1, 2010, a $5.00 fee will be imposed anytime an account is posted for termination of water. This fee will only be charged for past due current sewage account and will not be charged to accounts that were delinquent to the City of McKeesport. The $5.00 fee will be charged even if the account is paid before water is shut off. Once the water has been shut off the standard $50.00 fee will still need to be paid before water service can be restored.

It has become evident that a small percentage of our rate payers wait until they receive a water termination notice before paying their sewage bill. This creates additional administrative costs that have historically been paid by all of the rate payers. This is unfair to those customers who have been paying without having their residences posted. As of July 1, 2010 these administrative costs will be paid by those people who cause this expense.

In addition to the cost involved in posting, the billing department staff must take time away from their other duties to prepare these postings. The Municipal Authority hopes that by imposing this fee, fewer postings will need to be prepared and more time can be devoted to our rate payers who seek our assistance.
